Project Background
For the Amdocs world conference in March, our team was assigned the task of creating a captivating virtual challenge as a pre-event activity. The challenge commenced on February 1st, with the project being officially accepted on January 10th. Amdocs’ primary objective was to foster intra-organizational connectivity among its diverse employees across different countries, setting the stage for an organization-wide connectivity conference. As the conference was conducted virtually, we designed 10 individual challenges and 3 team challenges within a tight timeframe of just 3 weeks. These challenges comprised various elements such as registration forms, engaging videos, interactive tutorials, and more.

The process
Over the course of a month, our dedicated team invested countless hours into ensuring the timely and exceptional delivery of the project. Each day, we held update meetings, involving me as the representative from Play-it, along with the Amdocs activity team and the project manager.
Our development process was characterized by speed and efficiency, encompassing the following key steps:

Our foremost priority was to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience. To achieve this, we implemented two key features to help users effortlessly navigate through the challenges:
Consistent and Intuitive Interface: We designed a simple and uniform set of buttons that remained consistent across all challenges. By using the same order for these buttons in every challenge, we aimed to provide users with a familiar and predictable flow. This approach minimized confusion and enabled users to focus on the content of the challenges rather than getting accustomed to different navigation patterns.
Informative Hover Descriptions: Understanding that clarity is essential, we went the extra mile to enhance user guidance. For each button, we incorporated concise and informative descriptions that appeared when the user hovered over them. These descriptions offered instant context, enabling users to comprehend the purpose of each button before clicking. As a result, users felt more empowered and confident in their interactions, reducing the likelihood of errors or uncertainties.
By prioritizing user-centric design principles, we ensured that users could easily grasp the challenge flow and efficiently engage with the platform. The combination of consistent buttons and informative hover descriptions significantly improved the overall user experience, earning positive feedback and appreciation from our audience.

Challenges Faced
Simplifying Complex Content: One of the primary hurdles we encountered was translating intricate and content-heavy information into a user-friendly interface. Amdocs’ challenges involved numerous detailed explanations and sections, making it essential for us to present the content in a simple, concise, and engaging manner. Balancing the need for comprehensive information with a visually appealing and enjoyable user experience demanded meticulous planning and creative solutions.
Adhering to Amdocs’ Brand Language: Maintaining consistency with Amdocs’ brand language was crucial to ensure a cohesive and recognizable identity throughout the challenges. Integrating Amdocs’ branding elements while also adhering to the principles of user-centered design required a delicate balance. Striking this balance involved careful consideration of color schemes, typography, iconography, and overall visual style to align seamlessly with Amdocs’ established image.
Handling Various Media Types: Some challenges involved the inclusion of diverse media types, such as videos, photos, and written answers. Integrating these elements seamlessly into the interface without compromising performance or user experience presented its own set of technical and design challenges. We needed to ensure that media files were properly optimized for fast loading times, and users could easily access and interact with them without any glitches.
Coordinating Team Submissions: Implementing a system for team-based challenges posed an additional challenge. We needed to clearly communicate to users how to submit results as a team and determine the member responsible for submitting, along with the submission process and timeline. Ensuring that each team member understood their roles and responsibilities in the submission process was essential to avoid confusion and streamline the challenge participation.
Addressing these challenges required close collaboration between our team, Amdocs, and the content creators. Frequent communication, feedback loops, and iterative design and development processes were vital in overcoming these obstacles. By employing a user-centered approach and maintaining a strong focus on Amdocs’ brand identity, we were able to create an interface and challenges that resonated with participants while effectively conveying the desired information and fostering an enjoyable user experience.
